Pinochle tournament score sheets and rotation
Seat a pinochle tournament for any number of players, print a score sheet for every table, and type the round scores as they come in: the standings add themselves up.
How a pinochle tournament runs
National Pinochle Association tournaments are played as singles: partners change from table to table and each player keeps an individual score. A round is 4 hands, each player dealing once, and a sanctioned two-day tournament plays 21 rounds. The scorekeeper records each hand and both teams check and sign the sheet before it goes to the scoring table. Pick "New partner each round" for this format.
The Golden Games pinochle doubles rules (scc-goldengames.org) play by teams: after each round of four hands one player writes both teams' scores on the game card, signs it, and one team moves to another table. The event coordinator adds up the cards, 20 hands in all, and a tie is decided by one more hand. Pick "Fixed teams" for this format.
The score sheets have rows for dealer, trump, bid, meld and take, so they work for double deck and single deck games (pagat.com gives a double deck game as 500 points; a family version of single deck on the same site plays to 1,500). Type each partnership's total for the round into the planner.
The printouts: a seating chart for the host, a score sheet for every table and round with the partners filled in and lines for the scorekeeper and the other team to sign, score cards, and a results sheet (a blank one to fill in by hand before any scores are typed).
Questions organizers ask
How many hands are in a pinochle tournament round?
National Pinochle Association rules play 4 hands a round, so each player deals once. The Golden Games doubles rules also play four hands at a table before a team moves.
How are partners chosen?
In an individual (singles) tournament the draw decides: you play with a new partner each round and against different opponents. In a team tournament partners stay together all day.
Are there bonuses in tournament pinochle?
NPA rules add 500 when a team takes all 50 points in a hand (a pinochle), and 200 for a skunk, when the other team is scoreless after the four hands. Add them to the round score before you type it in.
How are ties broken?
The Golden Games doubles rules play one more hand. Otherwise players with the same total share the place unless the host announced a tie rule.
